Cleanse injured area gently and thoroughly with an antiseptic or mild soap and water. Pat dry. 2. Treat. Protect wounds by applying ointment or cream. 3. Protect. Cover injured area completely with a gauze pad or non-stick pad to help absorb fluids. Wrap rolled gauze to firmly secure pad and help seal out dirt and germs. Tape ends of rolled gauze to secure.
