Effective and easy to use

The enema is easy to use and the small nozzle is comfortable. The instructions recommend either lying on your left side, or using the knee chest position (illustrated on the carton). The knee chest position is a little awkward if administering to yourself, but it is effective. If you are able to administer in the knee chest, wait a couple of minutes and move to the left side, otherwise just administer while lying on your left side. The instructions say the enema is effective in 5 to 20 minutes. You will usually start having an urge to go to the toilet after about 5 minutes, but for the bisacodyl to be really effective you need to wait 10 to 20 minutes, if possible. The small amount of bisacodyl is expelled at the start of the bowel movement, and the goal is to wait long enough so that the bowel movement will continue after the bisacodyl leaves the colon. The liquid bisacodyl solution is very effective, and you should experience a moderate to large bowel movement within 10 to 20 minutes of receiving the enema.
